Snappy Lunch

Snappy Lunch is a Mt. Airy classic, and yes, it’s famous for a reason. Opened in 1923, it’s credited as the only existing Mt. Airy business mentioned on The Andy Griffith Show, and the pork chop sandwich is the order most people come for. It’s a breakfast-and-lunch spot downtown at 125 N Main St, and it closes early, so aim for the morning or an early lunch window.

Squad Car Tours

This is perhaps the most “Mayberry” thing you can do in Mount Airy: ride around town in a vintage squad car while your guide points out the famous spots and local tie-ins. Tours start at Wally’s Service Station, and it’s priced per carload (up to 4 people) so it’s great for families or a small group. You’ll stay in the car the whole time, but the guide builds in photo moments and shares stories as you go.

When you’ve had your fill of Mayberry fun, head back toward Jonesville and get comfortable at Hometown RV Park. We offer both short-term and long-term sites, plus the amenities that make camping feel easy like full hookups, WiFi, laundry, private bathrooms, a camp store, and space for the kids and dogs to burn off energy. And if you’re looking for your next day trip, just ask our onsite team. We’re always happy to share a few local favorites.
